Web content and digital experience (CMS, DXP)
Contentful
A headless content platform that stores structured content and delivers it to any channel through APIs.
Contentful models content as structured types and serves it through a REST Content Delivery API and a GraphQL Content API, with webhooks that notify other systems when content changes. Salesforce signed an agreement to acquire Contentful in January 2026 and states that the acquisition was completed on 1 September 2026.
Where it shines
- Publishes a free plan and a Lite plan price ($300 a month).
- Offers EU data residency, with content stored in Ireland and backups in Germany.
- Documents its APIs and webhooks publicly, including retry and idempotency behaviour.
Check before signing
- Now owned by Salesforce, which plans to connect it to Agentforce and its own applications.
- Even with EU residency, content may be processed outside the EU through CDN caching, per its privacy FAQ.
