Influencer and creator marketing
Working with creators whose audiences trust them.
Influencer and creator marketing borrows the trust creators have built with their audiences. It reaches people a brand cannot reach on its own and gives a launch or a new market a native, local voice. It works when trust and new audiences matter more than control of the message, and only when it is run properly: briefs, contracts, clear disclosure, usage rights and measurement.

Influencer and creator marketing rarely works alone: the disciplines it usually works with, reaching one person.

What matters when choosing
Audience fit by country, age and interest, checked before the size of the following.
Signs of a genuine audience, not bought followers or engagement.
Disclosure written into the contract, for every piece on every platform.
Usage rights that say where, for how long and whether the brand may boost the content as paid ads.
Any licence or permit a creator needs in markets that require one.
Questions to ask vendors and agencies
How do you check that a creator's audience is real and matches ours?
Who labels each piece as advertising, and how is that checked before it goes live?
Which rights to reuse and boost the content does the fee include?
Common mistakes
Hidden or missing disclosure, the most common failure in the discipline.
Over-scripting a creator until the trust you paid for is gone.
Measuring views and earned media value instead of what changed for the objective.
What it is good at
- Borrowed trust from voices the audience already follows.
- Native content for each platform, which social and paid media can reuse.
- Fast access to new audiences, with direct sales visible through codes and links.
What to watch for
- Less control over the message.
- Reach that is hard to compare from one creator to another.
- Compliance work in every market: disclosure, licences and contracts.
How it is bought and priced
Fees are negotiated creator by creator: a flat fee per piece or campaign, free product, a commission per sale through a link or code, or a retainer for long-term ambassadors. Usage rights, exclusivity and boosting usually cost extra, and some markets add a licence or permit fee for the creator.
